The greeting card. Do you remember being a kid and running to the mailbox on the weekend to see what showed up in the mail? Do you remember the feeling of receiving something for yourself when you were a child? Do you still look forward to receiving a card on your birthday, holiday or other special occasion? With the multitude of online venues in 2017, the actual paper card seems like it is lost - but it's not! Hallmark and American Greetings are still producing cards and there are many small, boutique brands that are popping up across the landscape.
There is also a movement of women (and some men) who like to create their own handmade cards. I am one of them! Playing with paper and all the sparkly goodness that the craft stores have to offer is a very relaxing, creative and fun endeavor for me. No, I don't want to create my own line of cards and sell them in the nearest Walgreens - that would take the fun out of it. But I do like to create cards for the special people in my life, and I do like a creative challenge which makes for a unique card. Now that I have several boxes of cards to give away, I would like to do something purposeful with them.
Anytime you buy a card through my blog, I will donate the entire purchase price to your favorite cat shelter! There are so many shelters that work to keep our kitties alive and protected and endlessly search for a forever home for them. It's time for us to give back, and this is a very simple, small way to start and support them. If you don't have a favorite no-kill shelter in mind, I have a local one that I support: Caring Fields Felines (http://www.cffelines.org/). This is a great organization located in Palm City, FL. They care for close to 150 cats, and they facilitate close to 200 adoptions each year!
Look for my first card for sale in my next post. I'm making it simple: all handmade cards are $5, including shipping. Five dollars right to your favorite shelter - boom! I will send you a receipt of your donation as well. Thanks for supporting our kitties!
Let's Start With Cats....and end with coffee!
It all began when I still lived at home and wanted a pet to keep me company. I visited the local humane society and found my first cat, Casey. Being the honest person that I am, I let the shelter know through their questionnaire that I lived at home with my parents. The shelter employee picked up the phone and called them. I was mortified! I just knew this was the end of my journey on obtaining a cat. Amazingly, my Mom said yes, and I could continue on with my adoption of Casey.
Casey stayed with us for 19 years, and he began my love affair with felines. Understanding them, amused by them and loving them. Over the years, four other cats have joined our lives, and you will learn about them throughout this blog. I've had a nagging feeling over the past year that I need to do something to help no-kill cat shelters. My goal through this blog is to help these shelters by creating awareness and helping people understand these unique creatures that we call cats.
I have a passion for making cards. All of the cards I give out for birthdays, holidays and other events are made by me. I would like to feature cards, and offer it for sale. The sale of the card (not just the profit - your entire cost) will be donated to a shelter of your choice. If you don't have one, I support Caring Field Sanctuary in Palm City, FL, and I will send her the money. They also sell my cards to their visitors. I have a craft room filled with paper goodies, so I am more than happy to donate my skills to support the cats.
I'm a big coffee lover! Nothing fancy, just great coffee. Through this blog I would like to explore the world of coffee and journey through to find the perfect cup of coffee. Who knows - I may develop my own line of coffee - and call it the cat's meow coffee company!
Thank you for choosing to read my blog. I'm just starting so bookmark me as I add content several times a week!
